The objective of this project was to fill a portrait silhouette with a themed collection of images. My silhouette is filled with a collection of blaxploitation film posters from the 60s-70s. This style of film-making was created by placing black people as main characters in Hollywood movies, and expecting the black community to flock to movie theatres in support of these rare moments of representation. These movies were very successful in this context. The money earned from these movies of course went directly into the pockets of the white men in charge of their creation, and very rarely would any of the black characters in these movies find "white stardom". 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of this film practice.
Mirrored and Reflected
Literal Cubism
Used photoshop mirroring and flipping to turn a picture of a broken window into an ominous glass flower.
Using several different pictures of one face cropped into squares, a cube is created.
